Welcome to the Monterey County Probation Officers Association website. The Association is made up of Deputy Probation Officers and Juvenile Institutional Officers. Our association members’ professionalism and level of service helps to keep our community safe. We actively support PORAC, SCOPO, and other law enforcement organizations. As an association, our members participate in numerous charitable and community events and organizations including the Special Olympics, The United States Police & Fire Championships, and others. This kind of activity not only involves us in our community and society, but gives back to the people we serve. It is our hope that we continue to grow as an association, do more for the community, and provide the highest level of service to our members. I encourage all of our members to get more involved with union activities and charitable events, as well as PORAC and SCOPO functions. Working together will make us a stronger and better union for all of our members.
Probation associations offer needed support and guidance for committed law enforcement officers. Here at the Monterey County Probation Association, we understand that probation officers require support systems in order to adequately protect and serve the public. Our association does everything possible to promote efficient, effective probation services. We also protect our members from the efforts of any who try to undermine the efforts of hard-working probation offices.
In concert with local probation offices and law agencies, we boost charitable organizations and actively work to make the world a better place. We also seriously work to organize political support for law enforcement. Working with political consultants and lawmakers, we fight for legislation to aid law officers and keep our communities safer. Just as importantly, we work tirelessly to counteract any laws that make life more difficult for probation officers. In many respects, our supportive capabilities for members are stronger and more diverse than those of general labor unions.
Beyond helping individual members, we work tirelessly to promote the interests of the entire field of probation enforcement. Working with experienced professionals and academics, we develop reasonable quality standards for measuring the success of various probation offices. In doing so, we produce concrete benefits for Monterey County, the state of California and the entire nation.
Probation officers fulfill important roles as they help inmates rehabilitate themselves into stable, productive members of society. These stalwart law officers deserve the utmost respect and support. Meeting that need, Monterey County Probation Association will never stop in its mission to promote the development of safer, more livable communities.
